Bangkok bus atmosphere
I like the feeling in this photo so much. One of the (many) great qualities I admire from Thai people is calm. Calm is good, and mandatory for a civilised society.

Sun direction in Bangkok
It's a little confusing when coming from Europe. In Bangkok Sun could be in the South or in the North depending of the time, which is extremely weird for orientation. It’s also a key factor when choosing accommodation since light quality changes a lot.
A room facing North is not so bad here! The magic of tropical places.

Bangkok is always in my mind
Travel notebook when no traveling. It doesn’t matter. I’m traveling in my mind so I will draw details of my dear Thailand from now on. If Bangkok is the entrance to Asia, Suvarnabhumi airport is the entrance to the entrance. A special place which ALWAYS brings me happiness at its highest level.

Bangkok in weird times
Travelling these days is not easy. Despite the never ending bureaucratic processes of documents and random rules I didn't want to miss the chance of visiting my dear Thailand in 2021. And I got it.
I found Bangkok quite empty, which is good in some points. Always superhappy to be here. I took some photos with my mobile. Indeed mobiles now can take nice wide angle pics.
Because of low level of tourists great hotels are available at half price.
Praying with distance. And love.
This is one of the spots which comes to my mind when I think of Bangkok.
Some areas in Bangkok are so modern and clean now. Same level of other asian cities as Tokyo or Seoul. Indeed Bangkok has changed a lot since my first visit years ago.
Khaosan Road area is full empty. Quite sad and unbelievable. This was one of those places which never changes. Doesn't matter what you do or where you go, coming back to Khaosan was like coming back to the same place you've already known. I often could see the younger version of me walking along Rambuttri with no much imagination needed. But not now. This is checkmate. Time changes everything.

This photo shows well how is Khaosan now.
Chatuchak market is quite silent.
I see this all the time and still don't know what it is. I guess it solves all your problems at once.
Siam station not crowded.

Tiny frames made in Bangkok

As I use to say "There are many Thailands inside Thailand". This also applies to Bangkok. My dear Bangkok. My favourite city in the world.
Moving from one neighbourhood to another is same as visiting a different place. Bangkok is huge, unattainable. Here just a few pieces, one in each color matching the feeling: Indigo for the new face of modern Bangkok as Mahanakhon building, sepia for temple atmosphere and Payne's grey when a big storm is near.

Changes in Bangkok style

I don't discover anything new when I say Bangkok has an unique aesthetic. Many details define that style and I will not enter in deep here. Maybe I will do in another post because it deserves it.
Typography, use of reds, whites and dark blues together with tiny cubicles is signature of identity in bus stations. For me that's the feeling of starting a bus trip and happiness. And they expend real tickets! I mean, paper tickets with a few stamps on it.
Times change and now it's easy to see futuristic spaces everywhere. King Power desk in the airport is an example of spaceship design. Also uses reds, whites and blues but the result is cold. Only too clean workers and "office trained" people in the other side of the window. It doesn't provide me warm feeling or happiness at all.
I guess they expand boring machine tickets, ATM style.
