The Nautilus Manuscript: Prototypes

Today I was organising things and I had in my hands the prototypes used for Nautilus manuscript.

They always mesmerise me. Each one is an iteration in a search for perfection. Each label is something to be corrected.

Oh, perfection… It can’t be reached in a handmade product, I know that. But I improved each version, polishing every detail as far as I can. Also I have to say I enjoyed the process a lot. They are my babies. Well, people produce babies in one attempt, no iterations. Maybe that’s the reason for so many unfinished people walking by there.

5 advantages of training a crocodile

Mr. μ had been always a normal man, normal behaviour, TV, etc. The full pack. And despite that one day he had a brilliant idea. With the current scenario of crisis, shortage, conflicts, petrol price and uncertainty he decided to take serious actions: He trained a crocodile.

1. Defense.
2. Attack.
3. Transport.
4. Accompany.
5. Food (eventually).

Mr. μ was so passionated with the crocodile’s education he even teach it to read. And it was his doom. One normal Thursday the crocodile found Mr. μ's documents and plan. Crocodile didn’t like point number 5 at all. “Ah, nononoo”. The crocodile ate Mr. μ and bye bye Mr. μ.

So… now we have a killer crocodile free in the streets, with rewind skills.

Donkey Kong is magnifique!

About complexity: Planet Nvapaa

Once upon a time was Planet Nvapaa. Its inhabitants, the Nvapaas, were biological beings half evolved with rodent morphology. They showed primary intelligence but enough to outline the concept of freedom.

They felt that freedom could be a good thing and decided to write on paper that they were free beings from that moment on :) As the Nvapaas did not trust each other they had to make norms. It was normal among the Nvapaas to cut off another's head to the slightest carelessness. They decided to abandon the laws of nature and created their own artificial laws.

The Nvapaas were free to do things, but always asking permission for each of them. For your good. Each action, even the simplest, required a form. Easy-to-process papers to protect your rights. But soon the forms became so complex that the Nvapaas could not fill them out on their own. They needed form experts. Hiring an expert was expensive and laborious but necessary for the common good. Thus, the laws began to become so cumbersome that the form experts did not understand them either. Even those in charge of administering the laws did not understand them.

Each simple action also became risky for fear of disproportionate sanctions. The machinery of laws and forms was a monster with its own life. 50% of the planet was dedicated exclusively to managing forms. And it was going to get worse year after year. Paralysis.

No one could do anything anymore: You can not sell Wuoukis (the delicious fruit, not confuse with Wuoukit, its poisonous version) to the next door neighbor, take energy from the core, not even actions proper to the free Nvapaas as to express your ideas or just cut heads out there. Nor could they change the laws they themselves had created.

But well, it doesn’t matter since Planet Nvapaa is still spinning in its orbit and doesn’t care too much.

Yokozuna wannabe

“You can achieve your goals if you set your mind to it”. Great.

As I told weeks ago, I decided to be a Yokozuna after watching a sumo event in Japanese NHK TV channel. Fascinating! “Don’t let others limit your dreams”, bla, bla, you know.

Note: Yokozuna is the highest rank in sumo. There have been only 73 Yokozunas.

Being that fat and winning battles sounded a good idea. My efforts to increase weight by eating mango sticky rice every day didn’t work. After a few days I was still far from my 200kg goal. Not talking about training (zero bananas, zero progress). To justify my 100% failure I have to say I didn’t do anything. It looks like setting your mind was not enough.

But… what if not everything is lost? What if I’m already a Yokozuna and I don’t know it? I was relieved. Still some hope.

I researched online for those kind of questions like “10 signs you could be in a toxic relationship” or so. I found this:

5 signs you could be a Yokozuna:

1. Your hair is black, bright and long.
2. There is a huge 20kg white rope around your belly.
3. You often go to sumo events, usually as fighter.
4. At some point you were promoted as a Yokozuna in a full of rituals ceremony.
5. Friends / other sumos call you “Hey Yokozuna”.

Since I don’t match point number 1, my goal to be a Yokozuna is over. Very sad.

But… can I still be the referee? His moves and clothes are amazing! That’s my new goal for 2022.

Thailand 2022

Here some photos from Thailand. I have the feeling the country is changing quite fast.
One day I should compile a group of pics showing the essence of this amazing culture and place. At least the perception I have of my dear Thailand.

Tibet and water

Water is a key resource.
Most of the humans live in this area.
Most of the rivers in the area start in Tibet.
China controls Tibet.

Water is abundant now but it could be scarce sometime soon. If humans can’t manage energy and some even say energy is “scarce” when we have a huge infinite power of energy so near and multiple ways to get energy.

I can easily imagine how big water problems would be. Water can’t be produce magically from nothing.

Some huge things found recently

My new idol is Terunofuji. And now Yokozuna wannabe. How should I start? Is there any other Yokozuna by here to guide me? I've started to eat mango sticky rice if that helps to increase my weight x2.

Testing new papers

Paper is key. From more important to less: Paper - ink - pen.

Still happy with my dear vergé paper but I'm open to options. Somehow the paper has shown feathering a couple of times. First time it happened was traveling in Vietnam with hot temperatures and humidity. I tried to reproduce those conditions at home but paper worked so well even under the most extreme tests.

So I'm quite sure what caused that feathering: Lignen, the "glue" which joins the fibers together, inside paper is gone or damaged. But I have no idea why that happens only sometimes.

I'm looking for a cream paper with texture, about 100m/m2.

Anyways it's fun trying new things. And more papers to come soon. I will post my conclusions.

Useful tools which can be kept inside the notebook

Many people ask me about how I do such straight text lines and what template I use. I don’t think it’s something special, but maybe it’s useful for somebody so here it is.

Very simple: All I need can be hold in the rear part of my notebook. From top: paper template for small writing, drier paper, notebook, ruler, plastic template for regular writing, foam and a card (credit card style).

If paper is not too thick you can just pace a paper template behind the page. In my case it doesn’t work so I made a plastic template from a folder separator. This is very lived already and definitely I need to do a new one 🤔 The pitch is important. For my writing I use 3.2mm separation between lines. Changing the pitch a little bit changes a lot the number of lines in a page. I tried from 4 to 3.4 before but 3.2 is the optimum looking for my kind of writing and pen.

3 blocks of foam helps to hold the hand and writer near the edges. It has 3 highs and it’s super light for travelling.

A small credit card is very useful as a ruler, much better than a big ruler.

A video about this can be found here.

The incredible case of detective Zero Bananas

During his career as detective he solved zero cases. Cero, null, 0, zero bananas. Ratio 0.0. The worst detective ever. It’s not laziness or whatever. He always puts all his energy on it but not results. However his agenda is always full.

There are many cases which require Zero Bananas detectivesque job: Couples who suspect are being cheated but don’t really want to know it or cases which require the thief is not found (specially if the thief is in charge of the investigation). So… everybody is happy!

In his spare time he takes care of the garden. Relaxing life.

Kinds of Income

The way to generate money could be complex and confusing for some humans. The reality is simple if you consider some key points before choosing your kind of income: Is it scalable? Get up early mandatory? (Avoid!) Is it passive income? And the most important: Is it compatible with a poetic life?

The ultimate goal is the cat. No income needed. It gets energy from the Sun. Well...

Cyberpunk 2077 new photos

One year after the launching of the game I've explored Night City again. It made my mind exploding every time. What a masterpiece of design. Every here and there is full of exquisite atmosphere. How can this place be even possible to be created?

And I used it not only as a video game but as a tool: A place to explore and take photos. I strongly feel we are in the first steps of virtualization and soon these now called "video games" will be the door to traveling to existing places and also to unknown and fantasy places with extra experiences.

I created a Flickr album to share those photos in a better way. Click here to access. Welcome.

And here I post some of them:
